Clyde D. Brown, Jr. is a native of Waynesboro, Virginia and attended Waynesboro Public Schools beginning his educational experience at the African American (segregated) Rosenwald School (Grades 1-12) with the exception of one academic year which was spent in the Detroit Michigan school system. His secondary educational experience began at Blue Ridge Community
College in Weyers Cave, Virginia and culminated with a with a B. S. Degree in Psychology from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. He found Trinity University per his being drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War. While in San Antonio he served under the leadership of the late Bishop T.D. Iglehart, prelate of the Texas Southwest Jurisdiction of the
church of God in Christ.

He was called by God to preach the gospel in 1961 at the tender age of 11. Pastor Brown was licensed in the year 1966 and ordained an elder in the Church of God in Christ by the late Bishop David C. Love in 1971.

Pastor Brown served as a former member of the Augusta County School System Special Education Advisory Board. He served a joint segment of the population at the Albemarle –Charlottesville Joint Security Complex through The Good News Prison Ministry. He also served as chaplain at The Piedmont House, a program of first steps for felons re-entering society. He
sat as a member on the Employment Educational Committee to The Virginia Penal Re-Entry Initiative.

Elder Brown has served the Church of God in Christ under four bishops: The late Bishops David C. Love, former chairman of the General Assembly Frank J. Ellis, General Board Member, Bishop Ted Thomas, Sr., and Bishop Henderson Wheeler.

He served as: Jurisdictional Sunday School Superintendent and Executive Secretary of the First Jurisdiction of Virginia, appointed as a District Superintendent in 1973, a position he holds today as superintendent of the Metropolitan Central District. He currently serves the Greater West Virginia Jurisdiction as: Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Chairman of the Ordination
review board, and at the pleasure of Bishop Henderson Wheeler, the Administrative Assistant to his prelacy. On the national level he serves as a member of the Resolution Committee to the General Assembly of the Church of God in Christ, Inc.

Superintendent Brown met and married Aleta Williams, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, in November 1972. God has blessed them to spend 40 years of their lives together. From this union they are proud parents of John Damian Brown and his wife Shawna, Clyde Daniel Brown, III, Michael Devin Brown, and Tabitha Adrian Drago and her husband James. They are equally proud grandparents of Jordan Damian Brown.
